Second Bath: Final Reveal

We got most of the structure of the bathroom completed and were able to move the boys back into their own bathroom. Unfortunately, that made the progress fizzle. It's not much fun to do the finishing touches- there's less visual impact and far less excitement. We eventually finished the whole project and can show you the final photos.

Originally the toilet was located behind the door with the toilet bowl acting as a door stopper. We changed the layout slightly to accommodate a new privacy half wall to separate the toilet area from the sink area. We moved the bathroom door over about 6 inches and turned the toilet 90 degrees.

We removed the bulky closet wall which allowed for access to the modified toilet area.

We removed all of the lavender tile and replaced it with a half wall of white subway tile.
I had some difficulty showing the white tile while taking photos at night.

Two sets of full sized pull out drawers. Genius design by Ikea.

Removal of the thick closet wall plus the addition of long, narrow sinks, gave us more elbow room between the shower and the vanities. Each of our boys is able to have his own sink and own drawers. They chose their own coordinating towel colors which is helpful when you want to know who left one lying on the floor.

The flooring is "plank" tile in a dark wood with dark grout. A matching storage cabinet sits near the doorway. The sinks and storage cabinet are installed off the floor to allow for easy sweeping and mopping. Crown molding was added, as well as individual lights and mirrors.

The large mirror was removed. It was super heavy and came as a surprise when it nearly fell off the wall when D was trying to remove it. Needless to say it wasn't properly secured.

I am so proud of the final product. It is clean, streamlined and functional. I wish our master bath was half as nice...but that's another project for another time.
